Ballyglass Community Childcare Service opened in 1981 / 1982 as a Playschool based in the Community Centre in Ballyglass. It was run with one member of staff and volunteer parents. The Playschool has run successfully ever since, with the introduction of an After-School Service in 2005. Our award winning purpose built facility opened in September 2009, offering a full range of services from 6 months to 12 years.

Situated at the rear of Mountpleasant National School, Ballyglass, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Ballyglass Community Childcare Centre caters for babies, toddlers, playschool, preschool and aftersschool children.

The centre is owned by Ballyglass Community Council Co. Ltd., and is run by a team of volunteers - the Childcare Committee - a sub committee of the Community Council. The committee comprises of directors of the Community Council, parents of children attending the service, and other volunteers.

The Centre employs a Manager, Senior Childcare Practitioners and Childcare Practitioners. There is also a cook and an office administrator working in the service.

The Centre opens from 8 am to 5.30 pm - Monday to Friday - 51 weeks per year. It offers full day care for babies and toddlers; a playschool room and a pre-school room - with half day or full day care if required for this age group; an after-school service and a breakfast club.

The Local Link Bus transports children from Local National Schools as required - both at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Staff from the Centre collect the children from Mountpleasant National School at both 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Ballyglass Community Childcare Service is committed to providing a quality child-centered, play based environment, which empowers young children to actively pursue their own learning.
